Metro-North Resumes Service on New Haven Line After Urgent Repairs

NEW HAVEN — Metro-North announced on Saturday that service on the New Haven line has resumed following a temporary suspension. Trains were halted in New York to allow transportation crews to carry out “urgent roadway repairs.”

According to the commuter rail service, the regular Saturday schedule is expected to resume at around 4 p.m., bringing relief to thousands of commuters who were urged to seek alternate means of transportation.

Earlier in the day, Metro-North advised customers traveling into and out of New York City to find alternative transit options. Maintenance crews in the Bronx had to unexpectedly conduct repairs above tracks on the Harlem and New Haven lines, causing a partial interruption of service on both lines for approximately 10 hours.

Specifically, trains on the New Haven line were not running between Grand Central and Mount Vernon East, a distance of two stops. This disruption caused significant inconvenience for commuters relying on the Metro-North service.

However, Metro-North praised the New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) crews for their expedited repairs. In a tweet, Metro-North confirmed that hourly service through the Bronx has resumed. Efforts are underway to restore normal Saturday service by 4 p.m.

While the railroad strives to return to its regular schedule, there may be a delay in accurate TrainTime trip data. Metro-North advised passengers to stay updated on any possible changes via their official channels.

The interruption in service on the New Haven line caused frustration for many commuters, who rely on the railroad for their daily transportation to and from New York City. As the repairs have been completed and service has resumed, Metro-North hopes to avoid any further disruptions and inconvenience for its passengers.

For the latest updates on Metro-North service, passengers are encouraged to check the Metro-North website or follow their official Twitter account.
