For the second consecutive year, Frank Blanco (Mollet del Vallès, Barcelona, 48 years old) takes a break from his vacation to present the program ‘Fiesta de verano’ with María Verdoy, which Telecinco broadcasts this afternoon starting at 4:00 p.m. The announcer assumes the challenge of replacing Emma García responsibly, but also with the confidence of leading a consolidated format in the weekend programming.
-It arrives at a consolidated program for the summer, will there be news?
-We are going to put the tag ‘Summer Party’ for putting some summery extra on it. The program will be continuous, with many collaborators that people know, but the format is the same. There will be a new face, like Jorge Borrajo, the director of the magazine ‘Semana’, the former Miss Spain Rocío Martín or Alejandra Castelló, who was with me last year. José Manuel Parada is also coming, and I am very much looking forward to working with him, with his particular ‘bar’ where he will meet characters that we believe the spectators miss.
-Replacing Emma García implies a greater responsibility?
-Responsibility always exists. In my case, I feel the same responsibility whether I’m taking over an existing program or starting a new one. What you have to do is try to do the best you can. Last year, it is true that the ‘Ya es verano’ team started from scratch, everything was new and, as in everything, starts are not easy. For me it is a peace of mind to be now with a team with which I already worked a year ago and where everything is going smoothly. I am confident, because the audiences for ‘Fiesta’ guarantee that it is a program that is liked and works.
-It will be a summer with a lot of information from the heart. Is there a specific character that you like the most and follow with special attention?
-Look, for a personal matter, I would tell you that I am interested in Ana María Aldón right now. I met her last year and I follow her with interest. I’m glad all the good things happen to you.

Have you been able to get some rest in the summer?
I have been able to rest a bit. I am an ax looking for days off and organizing my schedule for the day and yes, I have been resting with the family for a few days. We still have a few days ahead of us. Summer is still long and I don’t have the feeling of running out of vacation. All my life I have worked during the summers. It’s been years since I’ve had a month on vacation and it’s very comfortable to work, really.
-How is the new stage in Telecinco living? Ratings are down…
-I am very comfortable in the new Telecinco. I really like it and I love that viewers are also watching new shows. It is a channel that I like what it represents, always with that vitality and joy when it comes to making television. I feel lucky and now I am happier to be part of the new Telecinco, even if it is in summer. About the audiences, on vacation they change, because the habits of the viewers are not the same. You have to assume it. On television you have to give yourself time as in any field or business. If you open a new bakery in a neighborhood, few people will go at first, but if you do it well, you will have a good product, because surely in a few weeks everyone will go to buy your bread.

-Now ‘Big Brother’ is back, in its VIP version, a format with which you had a relationship in the past. How do you live the return?
-I was looking forward to it. She had been commenting for a long time with friends who work at Mediaset that when he was going to return ‘Big brother’. I think it is the ‘reality’ par excellence in Spain and that it returns is good news for television. I presented it and it is one of the programs that I have enjoyed the most, because it is not just another format. And I’m a fan of ‘Big Brother’ and when they ask you to present their debate, it’s a rush.
Will you maintain your relationship with Mediaset after the summer?
-The assignment now is to present ‘Fiesta de verano’, which is a program that has a name. I have a good relationship with Mediaset. This is like football, I’m like a player on the bench. If they want to take me out to play, I will. And if I have to be on the bench, then I will be. My will is to be able to contribute a project together in the future, but that would be after the summer.
