Ten years after the Angrois accident, the victims meet again to demand responsibility

This Sunday they will hold an Assembly in the Pazo de Faramello and on Monday they will go to the place of the accident to pay tribute to the deceased

The victims and the relatives of the deceased return to the place where 80 people lost their lives and 145 were injured. Monday marks ten years since the derailment of the Alvia at the A Grandeira curve, in Angrois. For this reason, those affected by this tragedy will return to that curve in which the accident occurred. It will be a commemorative act in which homage will be paid to the victims who were on that train. Those attending this protest met onMonday at 11:30 a.m. at the Santiago de Compostela train station, and they will start walking half an hour later in the direction of Praza do Obradoiro. Once there, they will stage a rally claiming responsibility for the events that occurred on July 24, 2013.

But it will not be until the afternoon when those affected move to the scene of the accident. At 7:00 p.m. a tribute is scheduled for the passengers who lost their lives on the same curve where the accident occurred.

Previously, for This Sunday an assembly is also planned in the Pazo de Faramello.Summoned by the victims’ platform, it will begin at 5:00 p.m.

This week three of the last five scheduled sessions of the trial for the accident, in which the lawyer of the other train driver who was traveling in the Alvia and the legal representatives of Adif and Renfe have presented their final reports. On Wednesday the 26th it will be the turn of the insurers, Allianz and QBE, respectively. On Thursday the 27th, reserved for the defense, the two defendants, the engineer who was driving the train, Francisco José Garzn, and the former ADIF traffic safety director, Andrs Cortabitarte, will be able to make use of their right to have the last word.
