Vermont State Police are conducting a search for the culprits behind the theft of a 150-pound statue and other items from the set of the highly anticipated film “Beetlejuice 2” in East Corinth, Vermont.

The incidents were reported to the police, who stated that the theft included a large, skeletal statue and a lamppost adorned with a distinctive pumpkin decoration. The statue and the lamppost were stolen between July 13 and July 17, according to Vermont State Police.

In a playful Facebook post, Vermont State Police said, “We tried saying the name of this stolen statue three times, but it didn’t come back!” The post showcased their sense of humor while highlighting the unusual nature of the theft.

According to NBC 5, security personnel informed the police about an older-model GMC pickup truck that arrived at the filming site just after midnight on July 14. The truck removed the base of the lamppost and drove away with it. The movie staff then confirmed on July 17 that the statue had also been stolen, leading the police to believe it was taken between July 13 and July 17.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the theft.

“Beetlejuice 2” is expected to be released in September 2024, as reported by Variety. The sequel to Tim Burton’s iconic 1988 horror comedy will see Michael Keaton reprising his role as the mischievous poltergeist, Beetlejuice. Jenny Ortega, known for her role in “Wednesday,” will star as Lydia Diaz’s daughter, and Winona Ryder will return as Lydia Diaz. The movie is being produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.

The theft of the statue and other items from the set of “Beetlejuice 2” has generated attention and concern in the community, as fans eagerly await the release of the long-awaited sequel. Vermont State Police continue to investigate the incident and hope to retrieve the stolen items before the film’s production is affected.

In the meantime, security measures are likely to be heightened to prevent any further incidents and ensure the safety of the set and its valuable assets.
