Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: A parliamentary committee was formed to investigate the size of financial allocations for the reconstruction of Nineveh Governorate.

According to a document issued by the Presidency of Parliament on July 20, “it was decided to form a fact-finding committee to investigate the size of the financial allocations allocated for the reconstruction of Nineveh Governorate and their expenditures for the years 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.”

Although nearly 6 years have passed since the announcement of the expulsion of ISIS from all the cities of the country, Nineveh governorate suffers from slow campaigns to rebuild road and bridge networks, hospitals, or electrical connections, in addition to widespread poverty and unemployment.

And large parts of the city turned into rubble and hills of rubble, and nearly 8 thousand buildings in the Old City alone were exposed to total destruction or severe damage.

Observers say that corruption is the main reason for the delay in everything, and that the authorities only renovated and paved the streets, but the people of Mosul are the ones who rebuilt their homes, cleaned their streets, and worked to restore life to the city.

The political conflicts in Nineveh have a major role in obstructing the reconstruction process, according to political analyst Ali al-Dulaimi, who confirms that what has been reconstructed is a simple thing, as hospitals are still out of service and many buildings and bridges as well. The reason for this, in addition to weak government efforts, is due to issues related to the political conflict, which led to the postponement of reconstruction more than once.

With regard to the reasons for the delay in compensation files and the importance of that in accelerating life, Al-Dulaimi reveals that there are more than 70,000 transactions distributed among compensation transactions for houses, cars, and commercial buildings.

Freelance writer Mwafaq Al-Khattab asks about the number of projects for which the foundation stone has been laid and is still without foundation! It turned out to be corruption deals and its allocations were looted! And after procrastination and years ago in laying the foundation stone for Mosul Airport and escaping from it, he added: We hope that Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi will fulfill his promise that the foundation stone will be real with a root and foundation.
