He has voiced the audio books in the “Harry Potter” series. But Rufus Beck never saw the films. “I have Harry Potter in my head,” he says.
Actor Rufus Beck has the German ““Harry Potter” audio books – but the characters themselves have never been seen on screen.
“To this day I haven’t managed to watch a film because I didn’t want my own Harry Potter influenced the way I imagined and interpreted it,” the 66-year-old told the “Augsburger Allgemeine”. The films came later to the screen. “I have Harry Potter in my head and I hope I’ve created an acoustic world of my own.”
The voice actor, who was born in Heidelberg, has read all seven volumes of the bestseller series about the boy Harry Potter, who becomes a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as audio books. “I didn’t really have a plan, I only knew roughly what a character would sound like when a new character appeared. But actually I decided it very much from my gut,” said Beck.
