The chows of the superior decide to put an end to their death. The announcement fell on the morning of July 21. The trade unionists claim that the transitional authorities have agreed to meet their demands.
Three days were enough for the National Autonomous Union of Higher Education and Scientific Research, SNAESURS, to wring the hand of the CNRD and force it to bend. Entering into general and unlimited collapse on July 18, the SNAESURS decided to stop the movement, at least for the moment. The CRND has decided, according to the troublesome secretary of the said union, Lansana Yansané, to satisfy all their demands: “The 11 points have been reviewed, everything has been satisfied. We thank all the teachers who have observed the strike slogan and invite them to be vigilant with regard to the applicability of all the points that have been accepted in the protocol”.
Lansana Yansané warns the government against any cunning. He does not rule out a boycott of the opening of classes next year if they are not satisfied: “If the points are not satisfied as we ask, the strike is only suspended. At the opening, we will invite all teachers and researchers to observe what we will have to launch as a watchword”.
The points of demand were, among others, the signing without delay of the special status and the implementing texts, of the single framework for Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation; the engagement in the Public Service of contract workers from higher education institutions and research centres; respect for the autonomy of higher education institutions and research centres, registration and re-registration of students by higher education institutions (IES); the repayment to the IES of the registration fees for the current year 2022-2023 and the lifting of the suspension of paid training in the public IES; the orientation of baccalaureate holders in the departments: English language, sociology and modern letters of the University of Labé; the regularization of the administrative situation of those hired from 2005 to 2015; funding, by the ministry, of study trips for teacher-researchers; the promotion of teacher-researchers to academic grades by the two ways of reclassification and the reclassification of teachers with a master’s degree; the release of defense costs for masters and doctoral students; the payment of the IES subsidies in time to allow the institutions to pay the premiums of contract workers, drivers and the registration of contract workers with the National Social Insurance Fund. Excuse a bit! The crisis is only postponed, apparently.
