Health: Dental Clinics Perform 7 Million Curative and Preventive Procedures

Dental clinics affiliated with the Ministry of Health have successfully carried out approximately 7 million preventive and curative procedures. This impressive accomplishment was achieved through the efforts of 3,253 clinics across the country.

According to the Ministry, a breakdown of the clinics reveals that 1,639 are located in primary health care centers, 162 are in primary dental complexes, and 456 are situated within hospitals. Additionally, specialized dental centers comprise 996 clinics, while 200 portable dental clinics are utilized for preventive and school programs.

A spokesperson from the Ministry stated, “The number of curative procedures surpassed 4 million, encompassing all dental specialties. Meanwhile, the number of preventive measures reached approximately 3 million, encompassing services such as fluoride applications, drilling, sealants, pregnancy follow-up, and dental education for children before and during school age.”

The Ministry of Health emphasized its commitment to achieving national goals related to oral and dental health. This includes raising awareness, promoting positive practices, reducing the occurrence of common oral and dental diseases like tooth decay and gum disease, and enhancing treatment services in public and specialized dental clinics. The Ministry highlighted the importance of an integrated system of preventive and curative dental services at both primary and specialized healthcare levels, as well as health awareness programs implemented throughout the country.

Notably, one of the key initiatives implemented by the Ministry was the establishment of 115 preventive clinics for children. These clinics aim to reduce the prevalence of tooth decay by providing necessary preventive measures and educating parents on proper oral hygiene for children. Additionally, the Ministry activated telemedicine initiatives through virtual clinics, enabling remote access to oral and dental healthcare services across various specialties.

In the first half of 2023, nearly 25,000 individuals benefited from these initiatives. Furthermore, extended-hour dental clinics were introduced in major cities to address the issue of lengthy waiting periods for appointments.

The Ministry of Health’s dedication to oral and dental health is evident in the remarkable number of curative and preventive procedures performed by dental clinics. Their ongoing efforts demonstrate a commitment to the well-being of the population and the overall improvement of dental care services in the country.]
