Woman Arrested After Shooting Outside Daytona Beach Nightclub
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A woman has been arrested after a shooting took place outside Razzles nightclub in a busy area of Daytona Beach over the weekend. The incident occurred during an altercation involving multiple individuals, where the woman allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired several rounds.
Daytona Beach police quickly responded to the scene on Saturday night and found two individuals on the ground who had been shot. Additionally, two others, who were not involved in the fight, were also injured by gunfire. Thankfully, all the victims are expected to make a full recovery.
The Daytona Beach Police Department apprehended 29-year-old Karla Bermudez on Monday in connection with the incident. She now faces charges of attempted murder. Further details regarding the case are anticipated to be released on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, this shooting adds to the growing list of violent incidents in the city. In response, Commissioner Ken Strickland expressed concern and announced efforts to enhance security measures. Currently, plans are underway to install more security cameras and lights. Strickland also intends to explore the possibility of implementing metal detectors and additional security measures similar to those introduced in Downtown Orlando following a shooting last July.
“We can’t continue to let this kind of stuff go on; we’ve got to find an answer to it,” stated Strickland. “This violence is unacceptable in this town, which is a tourist destination. Everyone should come here and feel safe.”
Local resident Sue Odena, who resides on nearby Wild Olive Avenue, expressed welcome for the proposed lights, cameras, and the long-awaited opening of a police substation. Odena emphasized that the violence is primarily caused by people coming to the area, not the residents themselves.
“It’s a good neighborhood, all we have is good neighbors. All we want is some peace and quiet,” Odena said.
The community hopes that the forthcoming security enhancements will contribute to a safer environment in Daytona Beach. The authorities aim to prevent further incidents and ensure the wellbeing of both residents and visitors.
