Since April, the structural work has already been completed on the athletes’ village for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, built to accommodate the 14,850 athletes of the Games and their companions. Work should also be completed by the end of the year on the media village, which for its part must be able to accommodate some 26,000 accredited journalists.

The Olympic villages on schedule

In total, more than 4,000 housing units should thus be built and then delivered as a legacy in these two showcase districts of Seine-Saint-Denis, which until now have been considered disadvantaged and not very dynamic in terms of real estate. Last May, the developer Vinci also put the first apartments in the athletes’ village up for sale, for prices starting at €6,700 per square meter.

As prime contractor for these gigantic projects, the Olympic facilities delivery company (Solideo) never misses an opportunity to promote the “quality of use” of these future districts, as during its last stopover, on July 19. At Le Bourget, a new school has already been inaugurated this year. And within the athletes’ village, schools, a gymnasium, shops should see the light of day, while the future Ampère park will extend over 3 hectares of the future district.

Requisitions in student residences for state agents

Alongside the Olympic villages, some promoters also took advantage of the Games to develop their own projects. This is the case of Pleyel Investissement, which has decided to renovate the emblematic Seine-Saint-Denis tower, 132 meters high, to make it a 4-star hotel with 700 rooms, the construction of which should be completed at the end of the year.

In order to house State personnel, some of the private security guards and volunteers, a housing mission led by the interministerial delegation to the Games also identified 18,000 “requisitionable” housing units, including 3,200 in student residences.
