in a new Popecast, Pope Francis spoke with young people a few days before the start of World Youth Day. In this context, he answered a question from an Argentine girl about the crisis situation in the country.
This is the second installment of the Popecast —name given to a podcast recorded by the Vatican media with the participation of the Holy Father—, whose first broadcast took place on the 10th anniversary of Francis’ pontificate. This time it is part of WYD 2023 in Lisbon, which will take place from August 1 to 6.

Specifically, the representative of the Diocese of Rafaela (Santa Fe) considered that young people in Argentina want to see a better country, one that gives opportunities to all, without forgetting the poorest.
That is why he asked Pope Francis how to maintain the daily effort and thus be able to build that future.
“I understand you when you talk about the daily struggle to have a better country, but we have a very beautiful, very beautiful country,” said the Pontiff.
For this reason, the Holy Father affirmed: “Argentina’s problem is us, the Argentines, who often do not have the strength to move forward, to be constant in moving forward.”
“When something goes wrong, we Argentines change and sometimes we believe that everything is over with three steps, but there is still a long way to go,” he reflected.
The Pontiff took the last World Cup as an example, in which the team went through two difficult matches, against the Netherlands and against France in the final, before being crowned champion.
In this regard, he meditated: “We believe that the thing ends because we get tired on the way and we stop in the middle.”
“Go ahead, you always have to look at the end of the road,” he encouraged.
