“UFO sightings are not rare, nor are they isolated. They are the routine»; The Pentagon hides “remains of alien ships and non-human remains”… These are some of the statements that have been collected in the last hours in the subcommittee on National Security, Border and Foreign Affairs of the Oversight Committee of the House of Representatives of USA. For four hours, and at the request of senators from the Democratic and Republican parties, three men linked to the US military gave free rein to conspiracy theories that accuse the US government of hiding sightings.

The protagonists who narrated their ‘adventures’ with extraterrestrials are David Grusch, a former intelligence officer of the Air Force who came to affirm that the Pentagon hides remains of alien ships and “non-human remains”; David Fravor, a retired Navy major; and Ryan Graves, a former Army pilot.

The first to vent to politicians was the latter. Graves recounted that in 2014, while flying over Virginia Beach in an F-18, he observed a “dark gray or black cube inside a transparent sphere that came within 15 meters of the plane that was leading the flotilla. We estimated that it was between 1.6 and 3 meters in diameter. It could have been something casual but the expilot affirms that these “encounters” became “frequent”. He even joked with his classmates about whether they would find a UFO -UFO in its acronym in English-. A term in disuse as legislators choose to rename these unidentified flying objects as “unidentified aerial phenomena” (UAP). Thus, they think, they fight taboos.

This subcommittee, which has already accumulated three days, would not be carried out if Republican Party legislators had not proposed it. One of the most active was Congressman Tim Burchett of Tennessee, who has gone so far as to say that the Pentagon needs to be “lifted.” “We cannot trust a government that does not trust its citizens.” Along the same lines is his colleague Ana Paulina Luna (Florida), who considers it “unacceptable that (the government) continues to encourage Americans to think that this is not happening.” There are also supporters in the Democratic Party such as Robert García (California) or Chuck Schumer (New York), one of the signatories of the commission, which is finally held to put an end to “speculations about the nature of UFOs, which do not benefit nobody”, according to the president of the subcommittee.

“The Government has UFOs in its possession”

As the commission progressed, the more classic conspiracy theories came to the fore. David Grusch, a former Air Force intelligence officer, is certain that his government hides UFOs. The retired official has such a firm position on the matter thanks to the confirmation of “40 witnesses over four years.” And he claims they also hide “non-human remains.”

The last to intervene was the ex-marine Fravor, who was in charge of detailing a paranormal phenomenon that occurred on the coast of San Diego in 2004. That day the Navy had to suspend training because a controller assured them that “there were artifacts that numbered less than 80,000 to 20,000 feet in a matter of seconds and would stay at that altitude for hours.” Fravor reports that a white object appeared “moving very abruptly on the water, like a ping-pong ball.” He was so shocked that he considers it “the most important UFO sighting in history.”

It is not the first time that this debate has arisen in the United States. The famous area 51 is the subject of numerous speculations of all kinds: aliens, UFOs, covert operations… And since the appearance of social networks, anyone can upload a video where it seems that a UFO enters the Earth’s atmosphere. There are lots of them, although few recognize that it can be an atmospheric phenomenon or a light effect.

The matter has gotten so out of hand that NASA has created a 16-person task force to study these phenomena. Although he already warns that most cases are impossible to decipher due to the lack of quality data.
