Adif AV launches a new 2024-2025 green energy contract for uses other than traction
Destined for passenger stations, buildings and other railway facilities, with an approximate consumption of around 27.9 GWh/year
Adif Alta Velocidad reinforces its sustainability strategy with the launch of a new contract for the supply of green electricity or with a guarantee of origin, intended for non-remotely metered supplies of passenger stations, buildings and other railway facilities with uses other than traction the trains.

The contract, for the 2024-2025 period, has a budget of 14.4 million euros, although the final cost will depend on actual consumption, the type of offer selected, the offers received, the resulting price in the wholesale market of the Operator of the Ibrico Energy Market or the possible price hedges in the Operator of the Ibrico Market-Polo Portugus market. The estimated annual consumption for these Adif and Adif AV facilities is 27.9 GWh/year.
The electricity supply points have been distributed into three groups in order to unify access rates and standardize market costs. The price offered for each group will be applicable to all supply points, as well as to any supply point that may need to be registered throughout the term of the contract.

The offers presented for each group must be based on a single method of obtaining the final price of energy: with a price indexed to the daily market Operator of the Iberian Energy Market, with the possibility of closing temporary periods at a fixed price, at any time, with a period of time. minimum notice
Once the offers have been received, Adif AV will choose three and start a negotiated process to obtain the most competitive prices, based on the expectations of the energy market. Access costs, with regulated prices, are not the subject of bid requests to bidders, although they are contracted.
The tender maintains the strategy of the last ones carried out in the energy field, raising the possibility of hedging prices in the Ibrico Market Operator-Polo Portugus futures market, in order to eliminate the volatility of the Ibrico Market Operator market and, thus, ensuring a stable price when the market allows it. In 2023, Adif AV has carried out this type of coverage for 18 percent of the consumption of non-TV points measured for the third quarter of 2023.
