“I was an opiate addict, I liked to get the opiate buzz,” the Halloween star told Joe Scarborough on his MSNBC Morning Joe show this morning. “And if fentanyl had been available, as readily available, as it is on the street today, I would be dead.”immediately added the actress, now 64 years old.
Curtis, who has been “clean” for more than two decades, further explained that she considers herself “incredibly lucky” that she didn’t end up in jail during her years of using. “My worst day was almost invisible to others,” she shared. “I was never arrested. I didn’t make terrible decisions while high or under the influence of drugs that I would regret for the rest of my life.” she stood out, relieved. Then, she mentioned what her future could have been if she hadn’t acted the way she did.
“There are women in prison whose lives have been wrecked by drugs and alcohol, not because they were violent criminals, not because they were horrible people, but because they were addicted. And I’m incredibly lucky that wasn’t my path. I was heading there,” she recalled.
