Polish swordsmen gave their country its first world title in this weapon on Friday at the World Fencing Championships in Milan.

Bronze medalists last year in Cairo, the Polish showered the Italians at home in Lombardy (32-28).

It is nevertheless the eighth medal of the “Azzurri” in their Worlds where they crush the competition one year before the Paris-24 Olympics.

They still have two of their strongest weapons left, the women’s and men’s foils to further improve their record.
