Government Minister Compensates Young Man for Injury Caused by Falling Electric Pole in Madurai
Madurai: In a show of compassion and responsibility, Finance and Power Minister Thangam Thennarasu presented a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to a young man who lost his ankle due to the falling of an electric pole in Madurai.
The recipient of the compensation, Parithi Wigneswaran (19), hails from the Kochadai area of Madurai and is currently studying in a private engineering college in Kinathukkadavu. As a dedicated judo athlete, he had come to town for a vacation and was preparing himself to compete in a national judo tournament in the coming weeks.
The incident occurred a few days ago when Parithi was walking to his friend’s house in the Kochadai area. At that time, workers from the Electricity Board were engaged in replacing a damaged electric pole near the Kochadai Muttiah Temple using a crane. Unfortunately, the pole collapsed unexpectedly, causing Parithi to fall and suffer a fractured left leg. The impact was so severe that his ankle had to be amputated.
Upon learning of the incident, Minister Thangam Thennarasu personally visited Parithi at the Madurai Rajaji Government Hospital to offer his support and condolences. As a gesture of financial assistance from the government, the Minister announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Power Generation and Distribution Corporation and an additional Rs 2 lakh on behalf of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
The compensation aims to provide some relief and support to Parithi and his family during this difficult time. It is a reflection of the government’s commitment to taking care of its citizens’ welfare and ensuring justice for those affected by unfortunate incidents.
Parithi expressed his gratitude towards the Minister and the government for their prompt response and assistance. He hopes to recover soon and continue pursuing his dreams in the field of judo.
