Thiruvananthapuram: The night curfew imposed by the Omicron threat continues today. Restrictions are in place from 10pm to 5am. The night curfew was aimed at preventing people from leaving in large numbers in connection with the New Year holidays.

The decision on whether to continue night control will be taken at the Kovid review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister the next day. The curfew was announced on December 30.

Since it is three to five times more likely to spread than the Delta virus, the spread of the Omicron virus is likely to increase the number of Kovid victims. Measures are being taken to deal with such a situation.

In the event of a third wave of Kovid, more and more of the medicines, beds and syringes needed are being collected. All measures are being taken to deal with the third wave.

The CM had said that the district collectors should ensure that all the oxygen producing hospitals increase their production and storage of oxygen, considering the possibility of an increase in the number of Kovid victims by the end of January.

In the state, 98 per cent people have received the first dose and 77 per cent the second dose. The CM had directed to complete the second dose of vaccination as soon as possible.

The CM also directed to check the formation of clusters in the areas where Kovid spreads and to tighten the controls by treating such areas as container areas.
