This Thursday the CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, announced through his Instagram channel that the company is developing a new function for the WhatsApp instant messaging application, which will allow sending short video messages.

That is, now users will be able to record and share short personal videos of up to 60 seconds directly in the chat and in real time.

“We think it will be a fun way to share moments with all the emotion emanating from the video, whether it’s wishing someone a happy birthday, laughing at a joke or bringing good news,” Meta said on its corporate blog.

He also explained that sending a video message will be as simple as sending a voice message.

How does it work?

Simply tap to switch to video mode and hold to record video. You can also swipe up to lock and record hands-free video.

Videos will automatically play silently when opened in a chat, and tapping on the video will start the sound. Video messages are protected with end-to-end encryption to keep your messages safe.

Video messaging has begun rolling out in some countries and will be available to the entire world in the coming weeks, reported Meta.
