After the success of the first edition, the first appointment of the second edition of “Voices and stories in Porto Cervo”, the cultural event of the opinion newspaper La Ragione – leAli alla libertà, was held yesterday, Friday 28 July. The first guest of the review Michela Proietti, journalist of “Il Corriere della Sera” and “7” and author of the bestsellers “La Milanese” and “La Milanese 2, the journey continues”. She was awarded the Ambrogino d’Oro in 2022. In speaking of a woman who is aware, accomplished and a protagonist of her time – like “La Milanese” described by Michela Proietti, it was natural to also explore the many points launched by the debate on the ‘ politically correct’ and ‘MeToo’: “I feel all the discomfort of the exaggerations linked to these movements. To battles linked to aspects of pure form, such as the endings of professions or positions (minister, lawyer…). I really don’t think that the masculine or feminine declination makes all this difference when it comes, instead, to gain space, weight in society and career opportunities”.

On the subject of women-work, Proietti has no doubts: “Let’s focus rather on the persistent differences that afflict women, starting from the unsustainable gaps in wages and career opportunities”. When asked directly about any ‘indecent proposals’ received by the author of La Milanese, she replies clearly and confidently. “No, it has never happened to me in my entire life and career. I know women, however, who have found themselves at this crossroads, forced to say yes even to shameful allusions to avoid slamming doors in their faces. With the surcharge – adds Proietti – of the thought of the many and many ready to doubt your subsequent complaints. Almost as if women were taking advantage of it”.

What about the #MeToo movement? “Unquestionably positive – Proietti tells us – but also capable of exaggeratedly crazy consequences. Cases that have literally shredded lives like in the Kevin Spacey affair. That’s where MeToo got out of hand.” Among these, La Milanese underlined, “the attitude of embarrassment and difficulty of many men and women. By now, one no longer feels free even to open a door for a lady, to pour water or wine, should the accusation of patriarchy ever fall on the victim’s head!”, says Proietti with a touch of irony .

“Is saying that a woman “is beautiful or elegant” always a shame or, worse, a violence? Without prejudice to the obligation on the part of all men to respect a “No” in all circumstances and without exception. At any moment of a relationship”, concludes La Milanese. The second appointment is today, Saturday 29 July, with the President of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia, who will take the opportunity to present his book “Pessimists don’t make fortune. The challenge of the future as a choice”, published by Marsilio Editore. The meeting will be moderated by journalist and TV presenter Katia Noventa together with Director Fulvio Giuliani. Partner of the event, Ferrari Trento, excellence of Made in Italy, which at the end of each evening will offer all guests the Ferrari aperitif as well as partner Christian Dominici Spa. Media partner the time.news press agency. All the meetings will become podcasts and usable content on the website www.laragione.eu, the app and all the social media platforms of the newspaper.
