Pedro, Flamengo’s star striker, has denounced a physical attack he allegedly suffered on Sunday from Pablo Fernandez, physical trainer for his own club, coached by Jorge Sampaoli. The facts would have occurred in the locker room, after a match of the Brazilian Championship. According to the Brazilian press, this scandal weakens the position of the former coach of Olympique de Marseille, yet second in the championship.
“Cowardly and for no reason I received a punch in the face from Pablo Fernandez”, assured Pedro in a message published on his Instagram account. “I endured a lot of cowardice at Flamengo, but never anything comparable,” added the player, who participated with the Seleção in the World Cup in Qatar. He filed a complaint at a Minas Gerais state police station, where Fernandez was questioned.

Physical trainer Pablo Fernandez had already hit a Nice supporter in August 2021, when he was Sampaoli’s assistant at OM (February 2021-July 2022). The facts had occurred during a Nice-Marseille match stopped after a field invasion by some Aiglons supporters.
