We all know, even if we know a lot, how we will spend the last days, hours, minutes, seconds of this hot July. On the terraces, of course; on the beaches, of course; deliberately lost in shady woods, of course; immersed in the wet banks of the rivers, singing aloud the hymn of our great patron Ignatius, protected by the frescoes of various churches…

We all know, of course a lot. We will besiege and occupy the movie theaters. We will be fresh there. Fresh and, depending on the films we choose, completely surprised, mouth full of teeth, eyes full.

We all know which films we are talking about that have turned out to be unavoidable: ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’.

Having accepted the challenges that Oppenheimer and Barbie extend to us, visually and philosophically both are incredible, why don’t we pay attention to everything that is heard in both?

Why don’t we pay attention to the challenges that Oppenheimer and Barbie extend to us?

45 people worked in the sound department of Greta Gerwig’s film and depending on the quality of the theater you watch the film in, you will recognize every single whisper or roar that they have worked on, unexpectedly.

We can also talk about music. The author knew from the beginning what type he wanted. And openly, confess without remorse; “one of those that will make you feel guilty.” Not a bad definition, no. Often the songs we like are frustrated by dozens of experts.

Greta, for example, had Andrea True’s ‘More, More, More’ in her thoughts. As you all know, Andrea, she was a very successful female porn actress… Mrs. Gerwig also agreed with the melancholic songs of the film ‘Xanadu’… they are like that, yes and often, “guilty pleasures”.

Billie Eilish and Dupa Lipa

Taking this as a starting point, the music consultants of ‘Barbie’ chose 17 songs that perfectly fit the imagery and sound of the playful and sinister film. Among them Billie Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’, which gives a lot to think about. Or Dupa Lipa’s world-wide ‘Dance the Night’, singer, actress and pro-liberty activist. The ‘Journey To The Real World’ created by Australian Kevin Parker, who has taken a stand in favor of psychedelic music, also deserves a mention (and applause).

Many of you are dressed in pink and have gone to see ‘Barbie’ (you have uploaded many photos to the networks…). Nice but don’t forget, though, you’ll have to take your dancing shoes under your arm and in your bag. You will come out of the movie wanting to dance.

In ‘Oppenheimer’, however, the Atomic Bomb is not the only thing that explodes. On the screen, the universe, the cosmos itself explodes: stars, comets, particles of cosmic dust, rays before the creation of the world… Even the brain of Julius Robert Oppenheimer himself. And all these explosions vibrate even in the most isolated corners of your inner self. There are 23 extraordinary artists working in the film’s sound department.

There are no dancing betas in Christopher Nolan’s film, no

Even in Christopher Nolan’s film, a great soundtrack. No, there are no dancing betas here. Yes, because what seemed impossible is possible to receive a warning.

To report this internal and external tragedy, 24 songs (because they are tracks) have been created by the Swedish-born musician Ludwig Göransson, the author of the music for the films ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Wakanda Forever’. In many moments and areas of the film, the soundtrack gives the impression of a train that is gradually picking up speed. Yes, it’s true, that train isn’t going at high speed, but the chords send a clear warning to your senses, soon you won’t be able to stop either the train or the tragedy.

In this episode, the soundtrack imitates the roaring trumpet of that train that exists only in our inner sensations, leaving our ears full of vibrations. We have a high voltage soundtrack by ‘Oppenheimer’. The violin has hardly ever been such a disturbing instrument. We hardly ever know about that intriguing burden.

You must see ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’. But don’t forget, ‘Prick’ ‘Up Your Ears’… ears up, yes. And the heart…beating.
