Just like for public transport, this month of August promises to be busy with works of all kinds on the roads and highways of Greater Paris. With necessarily a significant impact on the movements of motorists who are not lucky enough to be on vacation.

Because these works carried out by the Dirif (Ile-de-France Roads Department), more numerous this year in order to anticipate the freezing of construction sites scheduled for the summer of 2024 so as not to interfere with the organization of the Olympic Games, lead to reductions in traffic, or even cuts, on certain major roads. Here are a few.

The N 14 closed from Monday July 31 to Friday August 11 at Puiseux-Pontoise, in Val-d’Oise. Here, the Dirif carries out the renovation of the roads, which entails a complete closure in both directions of the national, for ten days from this Monday. Diversions are in place at exit 13 Cergy.

Closure of traffic lanes on the A 104 from July 31 to August 11 between the N 2 and the D 34, at Le Pin, in Seine-et-Marne. Again, road repairs. This is a project concerning the interior A 104, that is to say in the Roissy – A 4 direction. The project will be carried out in two phases, the first from July 31 to August 7 will lead to the closure of the motorway in this direction and over this period day and night. A diversion will be set up by the N 2 and the D 212 towards Claye-Souilly. The second phase, from August 7 to 11, will not block traffic but will reduce it to one lane in each direction. Attention, slowdowns at the key.

The N 10 closed from August 7 to 28 at Trappes, in the Yvelines. In order to better integrate this main road into the urban network that it crosses in Trappes, developments are continuing during the month of August. Works which will occasionally lead to partial closures during the day or total closures at night.

On the A1, the Landy tunnel cut from August 16 to September 1. This is undoubtedly the big chunk of summer roadworks. In any case the most impactful. The Landy tunnel, which runs the last 1,400 m of the A 1 motorway to the Paris ring road, requires major renovation work on its lighting, which is particularly degraded, and its electrical installation, which has been the victim of theft on several occasions. of cables. In total, 800 new lights need to be installed, as well as nearly 20 km of power cables. All to be ready before the 2024 Olympics.

The degraded state of the lighting in the Landy tunnel on the A 1 requires work in August 2023 which will require traffic interruptions.

The start of these works, which will last ten months with many night closures (about forty), imposes a continuous closure during this summer. It will be done in two phases. The first will concern the province-Paris direction, traffic being completely interrupted from August 16 to 25. Then the second the Paris-province direction, over a much shorter period but just before the start of the school year, from August 28 to September 1. Diversions will of course be in place. But here too, beware of traffic jams!
