S.U.V. Deliberately Plows into Group of Migrant Workers outside Walmart in North Carolina
In a shocking incident of violence, a man intentionally drove his S.U.V. into a group of six migrant workers outside a Walmart in Lincolnton, North Carolina. The attack took place on Sunday afternoon, causing panic and chaos in the area.
According to a statement released by the Lincolnton Police Department, the assailant, driving a midsize black S.U.V. with a luggage rack, deliberately steered toward the group of workers. The entire horrifying episode was captured on video, and the police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the vehicle and its driver.
Fortunately, although all six workers sustained various injuries, none of them are in critical condition. They were rushed to Atrium Health Lincoln for medical treatment. The police have reviewed the footage, which shows the driver veering over a median and onto a grassy area between parking spaces where the migrants were standing.
The incident occurred outside the Walmart store in northeast Lincolnton, a small city with a population of under 12,000, located approximately 30 miles northwest of Charlotte. The victims had no apparent connection with the driver, according to Major Brian R. Greene of the Lincolnton Police Department.
“We’re trying to locate the individual that did this,” Major Greene stated. “Right now, we don’t have a lot of information.” As investigations continue, the police are urging anyone with any information about the incident to come forward and assist them in identifying the suspect and the vehicle involved.
This attack is a distressing reminder of another deadly incident that occurred in May this year. In Brownsville, Texas, the driver of a Range Rover deliberately drove into a crowd of migrants, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals. The driver was subsequently arrested and charged with manslaughter and other offenses.
The Lincolnton community is shocked and deeply disturbed by the intentional assault on the innocent migrant workers.
