“We are expected on the security of the Paris 2024 Olympics, underlined Laurent Nuñez. Indeed, the competitions organized in intramural Paris must be held in about ten sites, at the Grand Palais, on the Champ-de-Mars, near the Eiffel Tower, place de la Concorde or even at the Parc des Princes.

An “implementation phase” from September

“It will be an important issue of the Games. It is an event that will be complicated to secure because it is unprecedented. When you have no precedent, it’s always more difficult, ”continued Laurent Nuñez, before tempering the concerns. “Our security plans are ready. From September, we will enter the implementation phase, the operational phase, ”he explained at the microphone of RTL.

Asked about the fiasco of the 2022 Champions League final, organized at the Stade de France, the Paris police chief wanted to reassure: “We learned the lessons, in terms of managing the flow of spectators and in terms of fight against crime”.

He also expressed optimism about the ability of the forces of the Paris police headquarters to be able to manage such a flow of visitors concentrated in separate places. “We demonstrate this every July 14, every New Year’s Eve in Paris. France is a big country, we have big internal security forces with a lot of experience. In terms of public order, we are rather envied in the world, we must not forget that, ”said Laurent Nuñez.
