The Sarmiento Birthplace Museum and Library will hold a press conference next Tuesday, August 1 at 11:30 a.m. The reason is to communicate the completion of the 3D scanning project to obtain an integral model of the museum. The same, which will be the first carried out in national museums, will be used both for tourism purposes, to generate virtual tours, and for scientific purposes, to monitor possible pathologies. In addition, a georadar scan will be carried out that allows the location of foundations and related vestiges, as well as areas affected by cracks or anomalies in the terrain. The studies will be carried out between July 31 and August 4 and involve removing the objects and furniture from the rooms, so it will be necessary for the museum to partially open its doors during these days, allowing the technical team to work in the interior of the rooms.
This initiative belongs to the research team of the Regional Institute for Planning and Habitat-Conicet (FAUD UNSJ) that works on the CICITCA UNSJ Project Interdisciplinary study for the integral conservation of the Museum and Library of the Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Birthplace. Contributions from the archeology of architecture. The studies are carried out jointly with the Faculty of Astronomical and Geophysical Sciences of the National University of La Plata and the Faculty of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of the National University of San Juan with support from the Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Government of San Juan.
