A new victory was achieved by Max Verstappen at the Belgian Grand Prix. There are already ten in twelve races this season. Red Bull has triumphed in all of them: Checo Pérez has two victories. What has to happen for there to be another winner?
Former driver Timo Glock thinks it’s so difficult that they could only take victories from Max if they ‘sabotage’ his car. This is how he joked in ‘Sky Sports’: “You could say that Max Verstappen would have to compete all weekend with hard tires or without a front wing”.
And he predicts a successful future in Formula 1 if Red Bull continues at this level: “On September 30, it will be 26 years old, or it will be when it is young, depending on how you look at it. And in reality it does not seem that its development has limits.”
With the summer break (F1 returns on Sunday, August 27 with the Dutch GP), Verstappen leaves caressing his third consecutive world championship: he has 314 points to 189 points from his teammate, Checo Pérez.
And it’s not just the difference in points. Because in Belgium he did not start among the first cars and quickly reached the lead. He overtook his partner without major complications and ended up taking more than 20 seconds ahead of her.
There is no fight for the drivers’ championship or the constructors’ championship. The only attraction that Formula 1 has left now is knowing who will be third in the championship: Fernando Alonso has 149 points and Lewis Hamilton, 148.
