More than 50 people from the Birloque, Martinete, As Rañas and Someso neighborhoods denounce the abandonment of their neighborhoods

More than 50 people have demonstrated this Monday in Monte Martelo for a safer and more humane neighborhood. To the beat of Hello beautifulthe residents of the neighborhoods of O Birloque, Martinete, As Rañas and Someso say “Enough is enough” to the institutional neglect they suffer and take to the streets to demand solutions.
From the Monte Martelo Neighborhood Association, the residents ask for seriousness to fight against the budget abandonment they suffer. They denounce streets without names, without sidewalks, without traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, canopies or speed bumps. They also accuse the presence of two pathways, the DP-512 and the DP-3004, which do not meet the characteristics of a street in an urban area, are not locatable and make it difficult for residents to pass through. At the intersection of both there is a black point with an underpass to the train tracks where five people have died so far in 2023.
First as a neighborhood platform and now as the Monte Martelo Neighborhood Association, it was founded in 2023 to denounce the needs that are seen to be unmet in an abandoned neighborhood, “When the postman goes on vacation, the mail does not arrive” says Ámar Basic, president of the association.
In addition, in the Martinete area, they have been fighting problems of squatting, drugs, large bottles and harassed neighbors for some time. According to Ámar, in 2020 there was already a negotiation between the city council and the deputation to find a solution to the problems they raised without any effect. In April of this year there was another meeting in the presence of the neighbors. They assure that the council had no knowledge of the state of the roads and that the institution undertook to fix canopies and potholes that were finally repaired in the first case by the city council and in the second by the residents.
