On the night of July 1 to 2, 1798, the French fleet landed several thousand soldiers on Egyptian soil led by the young General Bonaparte. Its mission is to occupy the country to cut off the road to India from the British. The Egyptian campaign begins with the occupation of Alexandria. Meanwhile, the French fleet must find a place to take shelter from the prowling British Admiral Horatio Nelson.
