JAKARTA – PT Sucofindo officially won accreditation as a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Information Validation and Verification Agency (LVV) from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN). As an LVV, Sucofindo is expected to play a role in supporting the Carbon Economic Value (NEK) policy.
“We congratulate Sucofindo on achieving accreditation as LVV for GHG and Carbon Economic Value (NEK). This is a joint commitment in realizing government programs to address climate change, which we must control,” said the Head of the National Standardization Agency (BSN)/ Head of KAN Kukuh S Achmad in a press release, Tuesday (1/8/2023).
Meanwhile, the President Director of Sucofindo Jobi Triananda appreciated the support of BSN and KAN for Sucofindo. With this accreditation, he said, Sucofindo is able to support the government’s commitment in efforts to reduce GHG emissions according to the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) target, which has been updated in the 2022 Enhanced NDC of 31.89% unconditional reduction and 43.20% with conditional reduction in year 2030.
“This effort will be carried out through strengthening mitigation and adaptation actions that have been validated and verified credibly, independently and impartially,” said Jobi.
Jobi is also optimistic that Sucofindo’s role as an LVV will be able to support the Carbon Economic Value (NEK) policy, as per Presidential Regulation No. 98 of 2021 concerning Implementation of Carbon Economic Value to Achieve Nationally Determined Contribution Targets and Control of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in National Development, as well as the implementation of the National Development System. National Registration for Reporting, Provision of Data and Information (SRN PPI) according to the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry No 21 of 2022.
“Validation and verification services that have been accredited by KAN for the NEK implementation scheme are urgently needed at this time. In particular, the existence of LVV in supporting the implementation and ecosystem of the carbon exchange which will be held in September 2023 by the government. Therefore, Sucofindo seeks to improve and develop the scope of services as continuous improvement commitment,” said Jobi.
In order to realize the government’s target, Jobi emphasized that Sucofindo as a testing, inspection and certification company that already has a tested and validated management system, as well as competent and experienced experts, is optimistic that it will be able to carry out its role as LVV of the NEK Scheme.
Commercial Director of Sucofindo Darwin Abas added, as LVV it is able to provide convenience for companies in ensuring environmental information to be claimed, especially related to GHG which is in line with inventory and reporting standards, frameworks and applicable requirements according to SNI ISO 14064-3 Standard.
“This GHG information report can be used as a company annual report, branding to customers, declaration of achievement of emission reductions to the public, and to fulfill reporting requirements in compliance with regulations from the Indonesian government or investors,” said Darwin.
