There is strong opposition to the damage to idols at the Ganesha temple in Sri Lanka.

Sri Siddhi Vinayagar Temple is located in Akkarappathana, Nuwara Eliya District in Sri Lanka. The newly renovated temple is scheduled to hold a crusade from the 19th to the 23rd of this month. The demolition of the temple statues in this condition has come as a shock to the people of the area. Traders in Akkarappathana closed all their shops and gathered in front of the temple to protest.
