The crew of the KamAZ-master team led by Dmitry Sotnikov won the first stage of the Dakar rally-marathon in the truck category. The race takes place in Saudi Arabia. Sotnikov covered the distance in 3 hours 53 minutes 14 seconds.
The second was the crew of Eduard Nikolaev (KamAZ-master, +38 p.). The third place was taken by the crew of the representative of the Czech Republic Ales Loprais (Instaforex Loprais Praga; +9 minutes 15 seconds).
Dmitry Sotnikov leads the overall standings (4 hours 6 minutes 22 seconds). Then there are Eluard Nikolaev (+0.31), Alesh Loprais (+9.58), Anton Shibalov (KamAZ-master; +18.56) and Andrey Karginov (KamAZ-master; +19.12).
The second stage of the Dakar will take place tomorrow, January 3, and the rally will end on January 14.
