Explosion Rocks Apartment Building in Väst
Early in the morning, a loud explosion shook residents of an apartment building in Väst, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. The incident occurred around 02:00 local time, when the SOS was alerted to the explosion.
Göran Carlbom, the officer on duty at the police in Väst, reported that the explosion took place in the entrance to the staircase of the building. Fortunately, there were no known personal injuries, but there was significant material damage.
In response to the incident, the police have cordoned off the scene and are waiting for the National Bomb Squad and technicians to arrive. A preliminary investigation into the public-dangerous devastation has been launched.
“We will talk to those who live in the property and possibly hear other witnesses,” said Göran Carlbom, highlighting the importance of gathering information from residents and witnesses to shed light on the cause of the explosion.
Witnesses described the terrifying experience of being awakened by the explosion. Parts of the roof at the entrance collapsed, and the windows and entrance door were severely damaged. Carlbom stated that they haven’t been inside the building yet, waiting for the bomb shelter to arrive.
A witness at the scene expressed their shock, saying, “The whole bed and the building shook. I got up and looked out of the window and then I saw blue light, and then I saw that the entrance was completely blown up. It does not feel good. You have read about various events before, but I have never been this close before. It is clear that it is unpleasant.”
