Los Angeles Rams Receiver Cooper Kupp Sidelined with Hamstring Injury

IRVINE, Calif. – The Los Angeles Rams received some unwelcome news on Tuesday night as team spokesman confirmed that star receiver Cooper Kupp has sustained a hamstring injury during practice. Kupp was forced to leave the field with a medical staffer and did not return.

At the moment, no timeline has been provided for Kupp’s return, leaving fans and the coaching staff concerned about the impact on the team’s offense. Despite his impressive progress during training camp, Kupp’s injury is a setback for the Rams as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Rams head coach Sean McVay expressed his lack of knowledge regarding Kupp’s condition following the practice. He had not yet been briefed by the athletic training staff on the situation.

“I saw he looked like he came up a little bit on a red zone route, and then I just know they told me he was out for practice,” McVay said. “I have no more information than that.”

Kupp, 30, faced a similar setback during the 2022 season when he suffered a high ankle sprain. He later underwent a tightrope procedure to repair the injury, causing him to miss the second half of the season. Despite joining the team for training camp after missing spring OTAs, Kupp’s recent injury raises concerns about his durability.

This injury to Kupp comes on the heels of multiple injuries suffered by other Rams receivers in recent months. Van Jefferson has been battling knee issues and has been given several rest days during the first week of training camp for precautionary reasons. Furthermore, Ben Skowronek missed Tuesday’s practice due to back soreness.

With Kupp’s absence, the Rams will be relying on their other receivers to step up and fill the void. McVay acknowledged the importance of Kupp’s presence on the field but emphasized the need for the team to continue practicing despite the setback.

“I hope he’s OK,” McVay said. “But I mean, we’ve got to be able to go practice. Guys have to be able to step up. Obviously, we’re much better when he’s here, and you hope he’s going to be OK. But if he’s not, we’ll see what happens. The practice had to go on, and that’s what happened today.”

As the Rams await further updates on Kupp’s condition, the coaching staff and fans will be hoping for a speedy recovery to ensure the star receiver’s presence on the field as soon as possible.
