Alex Baudin tested positive for tramadol during the last Giro d’Italia. The Frenchman will not be suspended but he will lose the results achieved in the Corsa Rosa, in a situation similar to what happened with Nairo Quintana last year.

It is worth remembering that tramadol is a very strong analgesic because it acts at the level of the central nervous system and it is on the UCI black list because, among other things, it causes dizziness. In fact, it is believed that a large part of the crashes in the peloton in previous years were due to the use of this drug. Tramadol will be considered a doping substance -although it does not generate performance benefits- as of January 1, 2024.

Baudin, 22, had finished the Giro in 73rd position and the drug was found in his controls after stage 17. The Frenchman can continue competing if his squad so decides.
