The World Textiles Training Institute in Reims (Marne) continues to grow. Imagined by Ousmane Ouedraogo, a Burkinabe stylist, and François H. de Beaulieu, a French-Canadian businessman, this vocational training establishment opened its doors last year with the aim of training in the trades of sewing, weaving and vegetable dye, while instilling strong social, societal and environmental values in its learners.

While the certificates for the second session took place at the end of June, the Institute announced the launch of a brand new project, called Textiles d’Avenir. This textile production workshop is aimed at independent fashion designers wishing to create a collection or prepare a fashion show, at medium-sized brands wishing to market quality products made in France or at professionals. The blouses worn at the La Bonbonnière bakery in Reims were the first order honored by the young company. Tailoring, dyeing, weaving, marketing assistance… The structure intends to rethink the way of designing, producing and consuming textiles, in the wake of the eco-socio-responsible values advocated by the training center.

Respect for the environment and people

Eco-responsible first, thanks to the use of natural fibers and vegetable dyes, which are more respectful of the environment than synthetic fibers and chemical dyes. Socially responsible then, because Textiles d’Avenir wants to give a chance to people who are far from employment, some of whom have been trained directly at the Institute. “Six versatile operators will be welcomed from the start, including statutory migrants and people with disabilities, bringing the workforce to nine people then to eleven at the start of the school year”, specify the two founders.

Last month, the workshop received the “B Corp young company” certification, awarded to companies that meet certain societal and environmental requirements, as well as governance and transparency towards the public.
