Kollam: Police say the husband hacked his wife to death in debt following a dispute over regular phone calls on his mobile phone. According to police, Deepu killed his wife after days of planning. Twenty-seven-year-old Jincy was hacked to death by her husband Deepu at Lathamandir in Kottapuram Meda in Kadakkal. The incident took place at around 5 pm last night.

On New Year’s morning, Deepu called Jincy’s mother Lata and asked if Jincy was at home. Latha told Deepu that she had gone to work and would return in the afternoon. In the afternoon, Deepu rode her bike with her five-year-old daughter to Jeansy’s house. Jincy asked for the phone but Jincy refused to give her phone.

He then got into an argument over the phone calls and grabbed hold of the phone. But Jincy did not give his phone to Deepu and then Deepu went to his house with his daughter and took her daughter home and came back with a machete and beheaded Jincy who was standing outside the house.

He hanged his seven – year – old son, who ran to stop him. Her son Neeraj went to a shop about a kilometer away and told her that Deepu had escaped when people arrived.

Then at six o’clock he reached Deepu station and surrendered. Two weeks ago, Deepu lodged a complaint with the Kadakkal police alleging that he had tried to kill Jincy by strangling her with a rope. The two were called and police spoke. Jinzi had told police not to file a case unless he was being harassed again. Police say that is why the case was not registered.

Defendant took Deepu to the murder scene and took evidence. Forensic team and fingerprint experts went to the spot, collected more information and remanded the accused in custody for 14 days.
