Prohibitory Order 144 Implemented and Internet Services Suspended in Haryana Districts Following Riots

Gurugram: Prohibitory Order 144 has been implemented in five districts of Haryana including Nuh, Faridabad, and Balwal. As a result, Internet services have been suspended in these areas. This step was taken after a violent incident occurred during a procession organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on July 31 in Gurugram.

The procession, which started peacefully, took a tragic turn when it reached the Muslim-majority Nuh district. A mob began pelting stones at the procession, resulting in a chaotic clash. Unfortunately, four individuals lost their lives in the subsequent firing by the rioters. Among the casualties were two policemen from the Home Guards and a volunteer from the Bajrang Dal organization. Furthermore, four vehicles and a shop were set ablaze in Gurugram.

In response to these incidents, the state government has implemented the Prohibitory Order 144 in five districts, including Nuh, Faridabad, and Balwal, as a precautionary measure. The purpose of this order is to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of the residents. In addition, Internet services have been temporarily blocked to prevent the spread of rumors and misinformation.

The authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their investigation into these riots. So far, 159 individuals have been arrested in connection with the violent clashes. The police have also registered 83 First Information Reports (FIRs) to further aid in the investigation process.

State Home Minister Anil Vij has appealed to the public to remain calm during these challenging times. He urged everyone to refrain from posting provocative content on social media platforms, as such posts can escalate tensions and hinder the ongoing investigation. Minister Vij assured the public that the authorities are taking the situation seriously and working diligently to restore peace and security in the affected areas.

The state government, led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), understands the gravity of the situation and is committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens. As the investigations progress, it is hoped that justice will be served and harmony will be restored in the affected districts of Haryana.
