Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross made a long-awaited return to the field during the team’s first padded practice of the year. During the practice session, Ross experienced his first hit in nearly two years when safety Justin Reid made contact. The receiver expressed his joy at getting back to this point, describing the hit as “beautiful.” The positive reviews from head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes suggest that Ross may have a bright future ahead.
Coach Reid praised Ross for his performance, mentioning that he has done a nice job and has the right mindset to maintain consistency. Mahomes, on the other hand, highlighted Ross’ quick grasp of the offense and his ability to make big plays. As a result, Ross has been earning more opportunities with the first-string offense.
“He’s learning the offense fast,” Mahomes stated, adding, “He’s obviously making big plays, and he’s getting more and more involved in those first-team reps. He’s a guy that I hope can be a really good player in this offense.”
It is worth noting that Ross has had a history of injuries, including back surgery during his time at Clemson. These setbacks may have contributed to him being passed over in the 2022 NFL Draft.
