One of the consequences of the pandemic was the acceleration of digitization.
With the implementation of the 5G internet network, remote surgeries with patient and doctor in different countries will be more common.
This connectivity tool will also be useful for teaching medical students.

Technology has generated that the current world is interconnected. Digitization is immersed in all areas and has even accelerated in recent years. This situation cannot be stopped and the next step is the implementation of the red de internet 5G. It promises to be one of the biggest changes of the modern era, but do you know how it could impact your work?

For a start, It is very difficult to imagine an everyday day without the Internet. For a few years it stopped being a luxury to become a necessity. It is also a tool that is useful for any purpose. From entertainment aspects to others related to study and professional development.

And to all this, what is 5G internet?

Today’s world is dominated by the 4G network and therefore the next step is to adopt a much faster connection. Therefore, it implies a new experience of data transmission to create new experiences. Now even large files can be downloaded in a matter of seconds.

With this in mind, the health sector is experiencing a digital acceleration rather than a transformation. For many years the solutions such as telemedicine, rehabilitation and monitoring of wearables, as well as assisted surgery already benefit users through technology. But what is in store for medical innovation with the advent of the 5G network?

According to video podcast AT&T DG Cast there are some ways in which this tool will mark a change in medical practice.

Health professionals who previously learned through theory, observation and supervision, today have the opportunity to use a simulator that allows them to practice under three fundamental pillars: knowledge, infrastructure and technology. Thanks to artificial intelligence (AI), thousands of scenarios from experienced doctors around the world can be stored, allowing professionals in training to be prepared for various crises. Thanks to its lower latency and speed, the 5G internet network allows generating greater response capacity in the face of practice scenarios generated by Big Data. Currently, doctors in training have the possibility of performing operations through the Metaverse at three different levels: Practice mode: Virtual Reality informs the doctor of the logical sequence of steps that must be followed in an operating room supported by the instruments that would be used in that scenario. Test mode: the medical practice is compared with thousands of practices around the world and a score is assigned. Collaborative Surgical Procedure: A group of surgeons connect across the Metaverse during surgery to attest that the procedure being performed is correct. Connectivity allows things to be done in less time, at a lower cost and with greater benefits, impacting the educational journey. Companies like Johnson & Johnson are providing education in the Metaverse under the premise that any health professional can have access to the same learning tools that are being developed today in public and private educational institutions.

Benefits in robotic surgery

Five years ago, the first robotic thoracic surgery was performed in Mexico and the first on the continent. In it Mobile World Congress de 2021 a robotic operation was performed using 5G technology. The patient was in New York and the surgeon in Barcelona. The robotic operation promises to democratize medicine. Standardizing the process will help more experts to offer it, reaching more places and at a more affordable price. The DaVinci robot, specialized to perform robotic surgery, is already operating in Mexico. Currently there are 12 of them distributed throughout the country.
