A troupe of actors offers a unique walk in the hinterland of Marseille. Guided by the voice of Marcel Pagnol, the public is embarked on the mythical sets of “La Gloire de mon père”.

In the hills of Aubagne (Bouches-du-Rhône), walkers discover the arid lands that inspired Marcel Pagnol. The warmth of Provence and the sound of cicadas are full characters in his work. At the foot of the mountains, his stories come to life. Hikers soak up the smells of the Garrigue to experience Pagnol in its natural place.

Different decors

To better enjoy the landscape, each scene is played in a different setting. For the public, better to be well shod: three kilometers of hiking in total to enter the story of a passionate love and revenge. The play is replayed in the very place where Pagnol shot his film. “We wanted to erase this barrier, this fourth wall that exists in theaters and encourage people to come and see plays, to provide proximity, emotion“, explains Emmanuel Fell de Ladurance, artistic director. The play continues at night, a dream setting for the public and the actors, also local children. There are still a few performances left. Pagnol would have liked his beloved Garrigue to serve as open-air stage.
