He had accused his brother-in-law of the crime when he was the author. Jonathann Daval, murderer husband of Alexia Daval, will be tried again for slanderous denunciation announced Friday The Parisian.

He has already been sentenced by the Haute-Saône Assize Court in November 2020 to twenty-five years’ imprisonment for the murder of Alexia Daval, committed in October 2017. He is now called to appear before the criminal court of Besançon for slanderous denunciation.

Alexia’s family accuses Jonathann of having lied by supporting the thesis of a family conspiracy against him, during which Alexia would have been strangled by her brother-in-law, Grégory. A lie that lasted six months in full investigation.

A hearing set for January 2024

As early as 2018, a complaint against X had been filed by family lawyers, Gilles-Jean and Jean-Hubert Portejoie. Jonathann Daval “freely” accused Grégory in the judge’s office when he was “necessarily aware of the falsity of the facts” since “it was he who had killed his wife”, sums up the Portejoie cabinet. “These false accusations have only added suffering to their pain,” they explain.

For his part, Jonathann Daval’s lawyer says he is “extremely surprised” by this summons. “I thought this case was settled and closed for all,” he added. He indicated, to France Blue, suspect that “the purpose” of this new approach is “financial”. But Grégory, the brother-in-law implicated in an unfounded way, expresses the desire of the family to “mark the occasion”.

The offense of slanderous denunciation is punishable by five years’ imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros. The Portejoie firm is asking for 60,000 euros in damages, half of which would go to Grégory. A first hearing is scheduled for January 2024.
