The American actor died Thursday at a hospital in New York. He was famous for his roles in the series “Breaking Bad” or “Better Call Saul”.

Mark Margolis played the famous antagonist Hector Salamanca in the series Breaking Bad. According to several Anglo-Saxon media, he died Thursday at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York at the age of 83, with his wife Jacqueline and his son Morgan.
In a press release relayed by the media Variety, his manager Robert Kolker pays tribute to a “unique” man and a “lifelong friend”. “I was lucky to know him,” he wrote.
In 2012, the actor was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role as the crippled leader of a drug cartel in Breaking Bad. The official account of the series expressed its mourning on Twitter and regretted the “tremendous talent” of Mark Margolis, who “knew how to make Hector Salamanca one of the most unforgettable characters in the history of the television”.

But he was also known for his roles in the series Sex and The City, American Horror Story, Californication, Gotham or Better Call Saul.
Over 70 film appearances
The co-creator of the latter, Peter Gould, said he was “devastated” on Twitter to learn of the disappearance of Mark Margolis. The one he called “the storyteller with a million stories” was “brilliant, funny”.

Mark Margolis had marked the big screen with his presence in more than 70 films, including Scarface by Brian de Palma in which he played the role of Alberto, a bodyguard nicknamed “The Shadow”. He also appeared in the feature film Requiem for a Dream or Black Swan. Originally from Philadelphia, he began his theater career on the boards of Broadway.
