Title: Children Fall Ill After Bubble Bath at Uddevallakalaset Festival

Subtitle: Several Parents Report Similar Symptoms

[Uddevalla, Sweden] – A fun day at the annual city festival turned into a nightmare for Gustav Wallman’s 8-year-old son after he developed red rashes all over his body. Gustav and his son had visited the children’s park and took a dip in the bubble bath, which is now suspected to be the cause of the illness. The incident has left concerned parents in the local community worried about their children’s health.

SVT Väst was the first to report on the case, and soon after, about 30 parents in Uddevalla shared their similar experiences on a local Facebook group. They noted that their children also suffered from symptoms such as vomiting, severe diarrhea, and double vision after bathing in the foam-filled pool.

Gustav Wallman expressed his concern about his son’s deteriorating condition, saying, “I immediately thought it was chicken pox. But then on Monday, he started vomiting and had severe diarrhea. And it continued throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.” The worrying signs prompted Gustav to call the helpline, 1177, which advised him to urgently take his son to Norra Älvsborg County Hospital.

At the hospital, Gustav’s son was admitted with a drip and remained overnight due to the severity of his illness. Gustav said that although his son’s condition has slightly improved in recent days, the past week has been exhausting for both of them. “Today was the first night where he has slept a whole night. He was very alert this morning, and he said it was the best night of his life,” Gustav shared with relief.

The company responsible for the bubble bath, Luftlek Event & Uthyrnning, responded to the allegations, stating that they used foam liquid within the recommended amounts. Joel Georgy, the director of Luftlek, said, “I cannot answer whether it is the foam that is the cause, it could be something else entirely. What caused these is that there was probably too much mixing in the concentrate, which can cause skin irritation.”

Dennis Fredriksson, event leader for the Uddevalla party, assured the public that they are taking the situation seriously. “It is good that it comes up in case there are any problems. We continue to have full confidence in Joel and Luftlek,” he said.

The incident has sparked concerns among parents and festival-goers about the safety protocols and quality control measures followed during such events. The local authorities have been urged to thoroughly investigate the matter.

As affected families continue to recover from the ordeal, the community hopes for answers and preventive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of children at future events.
