The day of Saturday August 5 was announced as the worst day of the summer on French roads. There were nearly 1,000 km of traffic jams at midday.
They finally arrived safely after a day on the road, Saturday August 5th. At a campsite in Narbonne (Aude), the holidays can begin. A group of friends left this Saturday morning from Paris. Vacationers spent nearly eight hours on the road, including breaks. They had left at 3am to avoid traffic jams. They were still faced with a few traffic jams at the end of their journey.
Travel times sometimes doubled
At midday, there were nearly 1,000 km of traffic jams everywhere in France. Some journey times have almost been doubled. The day was announced as the worst of the summer on the roads, but many vacationers had to maintain the departure this Saturday. “We don’t do what we want with the holidays, we didn’t have much choice. We finished the job yesterday, so we got up at 4 a.m. and left straight away.”says a man.
