Martin Truex Jr. Signs New Deal with Joe Gibbs Racing for 2024 NASCAR Season

BROOKLYN, Mich. – NASCAR fans can rejoice as Martin Truex Jr. will be returning for another season with Joe Gibbs Racing. The Cup Series points leader announced the news after qualifying in fifth place for the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

“I don’t know if all the guys know yet,” Truex Jr. revealed, hinting that his decision may come as a surprise to some of his teammates.

Truex’s teammate, Christopher Bell, who clinched the pole position for Sunday’s race, was taken aback by the news. “He’s got a couple more wins in him,” Bell said. “I was not expecting him to retire this year.”

The 43-year-old Truex Jr. has had a phenomenal season so far, showcasing his skills with three wins. Despite contemplating retirement publicly, Truex Jr. ultimately decided to continue racing.

“It didn’t feel right to not come back and keep doing what we are doing,” Truex Jr. said. “Excited to get that out of the way and continue to work on this year and excited for next year as well, too.”

Truex Jr.’s decision was largely influenced by his team owner, Joe Gibbs, who playfully nudged him earlier this summer.

“He tells me the same thing every year, that I’m right in the middle of trying to make this decision,” Gibbs said. “I go, come on, what are you talking about, man? You’re making money, you’re having fun, you’re driving race cars. Come on.”

With this new deal, Truex Jr. will continue to bring his experience and expertise to Joe Gibbs Racing for another season. Fans can expect to see him battling it out on the racetrack and striving for more victories in the coming year.
