First Stock Exchange Day of the Year: Sensex up 929 points

The stock market closed today, the first trading day of the year.

At the end of last week (Dec. 31) the stock market ended with a decline due to the fall in gas and fuel company shares.

In this situation, the first business of the new year ended with a rise in shares of banks and financial institutions. The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex rose by 929.40 points to close at 59,183.22, after closing at 58,253.82 points on December 31 and opening at 58,310.09 today.

The Nifty closed at 17,354.05 points and opened at 17,387.15 points today.

Shares of IT and banks, which have been steadily rising, have maintained a steady rise.
