A 17-year-old teenager disappeared while bathing on a beach in Cancale (Ille-et-Vilaine) on Saturday evening, while the department is placed on orange vigilance for “waves-submersion” by Météo France, reports West France.
The young man would have found himself in difficulty to return to the beach, around 8:30 p.m., according to the regional daily. Significant resources were used by the firefighters to try to find him. A Dragon 50 helicopter was still at the scene shortly after 10 p.m., Ouest-France said. The gendarmerie and the mayor of Cancale are also on site.
Gusts over 100 km/h
The department of Ille-et-Vilaine has been placed by Météo France on orange vigilance for the risk of “wave-submersion” since 9 p.m. on Saturday. Gusts of more than 100 km / h are expected in northwestern France, swept away on Saturday by storm Antoni. “An episode of strong waves in a context of high tides unusual for the season” is particularly expected.
It could cause “sea swells to cross, as well as submersion in low or vulnerable areas of the coast at high tide”, Météo France told AFP. West France.

Located a few kilometers from Cancale, the city of Saint-Malo has issued an order to prohibit access to the dikes from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. In a press release, the Corsair City “calls for the greatest vigilance and invites everyone not to approach the waves”.
