Striker Serhou Guirassy led Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart to victory in the last friendly before the start of the competitive game with three goals. The 27-year-old scored in the 8th, 15th and 58th minute of the Swabians’ 3-0 (2-0) win at English Premier League club Sheffield United.
Guirassy was Stuttgart’s top scorer last season and is also one of their greatest hopes for the coming season. Recently, however, there have been repeated rumors about the attacker, whose contract, which runs until June 30, 2026, contains an exit clause.
Striker Deniz Undav, signed midweek from Brighton & Hove Albion, made his debut in the VfB shirt midway through the second half.
Defender Borna Sosa missed the Stuttgart dress rehearsal for the first round game in the DFB Cup against regional league team TSG Balingen next Saturday. The Croatian international was unable to travel to England due to a lack of entry documents, VfB announced shortly before kick-off.

The first game, in which Kevin Stöger (9th minute) and Takuma Asano (51st) scored to win 2-1 (1-1), was much more meaningful. VfL coach Thomas Letsch played the expected starting eleven for the start of the season in front of 8,400 spectators.
