Two people are said to have died trying to escape the police in Limoges (Haute-Vienne), on the night of Saturday to Sunday, according to information news 17, confirmed to AFP and Le Parisien by police sources.
According to Le Figaro, the two young men, aged 16 and 23, were riding a scooter when they saw the police. They would then have started off quickly, potentially in an attempt to escape them.
Some tensions in the evening
The police crew would have initially tried to pursue them before letting them slip away, police sources told Le Parisien. The scooter would have finally run a red light and hit a car.
According to the same source, the driver and his passenger succumbed to their injuries in hospital shortly after midnight. The driver of the hit car was not injured.
The accident would have led to some disturbances, in particular the fire of a vehicle, but without more tension, according to the police.
