Film director Greta Gerwig (40) has written history with her film ‘Barbie’. The film about the world-famous doll from toy producer Mattel has grossed a billion dollars worldwide two weeks after its release. This makes Gerwig the first female director ever with a billion-dollar film.

Inequality between men and women

Currently, “Barbie” is the third most lucrative movie of the year. Only ‘The Super Mario Bros Movie’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’ made even more money.

Barbie, played by Margot Robbie, finds out in the film that next to her Barbie country there is a real world where women and men are not equal. The role of her boyfriend Ken is played by actor Ryan Gosling.
